PEST CONTROL
The chickens!!!

If you've never had chickens, consider acquiring some!  We will
never be without them here at our farm!  Why get chickens?
1)  They do eat their fair share of insects - lets face it, in the
war on flies, any advantage is a bonus!
2)  They scratch and break down manure in the pastures
3)  They provide hours of endless entertainment!  Don't
believe us?  Watch a group of chickens interact!
4)  Farm fresh eggs!  No grocery store egg is as tasty!
5)  While the alarm clock may fail to function, the rooster
NEVER sleeps in - you will never be late for work!

If you are interested in reading a bit more about chickens or
perhaps purchasing some of your very own, we highly
recommend visiting
www.mcmurrayhatchery.com
This company offers every kind of chicken imaginable
including exotic and fancy breeds.  You can choose by breed
and sex and they have some really neat specials!   We have had
excellent luck with our chicks from McMurray and they are very
healthy and lively on arrival!
Due to a terrible loose dog issue, we sadly have only one
chicken remaining.....Hilda.....who is obviously the world's
fastest chicken.   We hope to have more soon now that the
offending dog problem has been resolved.
"Jebediah"
Our rooster
No, all roosters are not nasty!
Jeb was a farm warming gift
from a dear friend and this
handsome guy is quite docile.
The kids and their friends
regularly pester him until they
catch him, only to carry him
around petting his gorgeous
feathers.  He's a good enough
sport to just sit in their arms
until they are ready to put him
down.
"Betty"
This silly looking chicken is one of our McMurray
chicks.  She is a buff polish, bearded variety.
Emily showed Betty at our county fair in 4H.
"Georgina"
Another McMurray chick, this white
crested black polish was shown by
Amber at the county fair as well.
"Bertha"
This is a cochin - she has gorgeous full
feathering that goes all the way down her legs.

"Hilda"
We're not sure what exactly Hilda is yet, but
we can't wait to see her full adult feathers so
we can figure it out!
"Hattie Mae"
The speedy chicken!  Hattie
regularly sits on everyone
else's eggs!
"Ida Pearl" & "Sarah"
"The chickens who started it all!!!"
These lovely ladies were out first chickens and are our
favorites.  They are both very calm and very sweet!
What's the best reason of all to own
chickens?????
Every horse needs a best friend!!!!!

Here is Trouble taking a snooze with "his" chicken, Blanche.
Blanche routinely preens Trouble's forelock and is quick to
reprimand him if he bumps her with a peck to the forehead!   Must
be love!
